It's breakfast season again – or better – with us it's ALWAYS breakfast season. Breakfast has become more and more prominent in recent years and has maintained its position as probably the most important meal of the day – at least many scientists agree on this. Of course, it is not only important THAT you have breakfast, but also WHAT comes to your table.
Especially with breakfast, it is often difficult to come to a common denominator. Some like to have a hearty breakfast, some prefer to eat lightly and some don't (yet) eat breakfast at all. Today, we would like to give you a few tips for a delicious, simple and above all healthy breakfast .
Is breakfast healthy?
As you know, breakfast can be discussed extensively. There are different opinions on this– studies have repeatedly shown that people who eat breakfast regularly are healthier, more active and often slimmer than those who do not eat breakfast. Similarly, studies have proven that breakfast is generally part of a healthy lifestyle. So how can you make sure that you are already doing something good for your body in the morning?
What is the healthiest breakfast and what does a healthy breakfast look like?
As you've probably guessed, there's no such thing as the “universally healthiest breakfast”. Instead, there are a few things to keep in mind that make for a soothing breakfast. The most important thing to pay attention to during the first meal of the day is balance. As with everything in life, it is important not to eat a one-sided diet.
If you incorporate the following three elements, you are already taking a huge step towards a balanced, full breakfast:
- Good Carbohydrates
- Fruit and vegetables
- Hot food and drinks

The foundation for a healthy breakfast has been laid– now let's go into detail:
Enjoy a balanced breakfast with these 5 tips
1. Don't forget about (good) carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are the fuel for your body's engine – they provide you with the necessary energy for work, university, sports and more. Since the energy stores are emptied overnight, it is important to refill them after getting up. It is important to ensure that you do not resort to sugary foods. These quickly make you tired again after breakfast – keyword of rising and falling blood sugar levels – and you also gain weight faster.
Therefore, it is best to put cereal products on your plate or in the bowl in the morning, preferably whole grains. Whether in porridge, cereal or plain bread – whole grains are extremely healthy due to their complex carbohydrates and also help you lose weight as a small bonus. Of course, we do not want to deprive you of our wide range of whole grain products – two of our favorites: the Bircher Porridge and our sports cereal.
2. Take your time!
It's not always what you eat that counts. It's also important how much time you spend eating. Again, there are many studies that say slow eating and chewing is healthier for the body. At breakfast, you lay the foundation for the rest of your day, so you should take enough time and not stress yourself out. If you start your day already stressed, you will not get out of this mess. Therefore: Slow and steady wins the race!
3. Drinking, drinking, drinking
Drinking enough is an extremely important part of a balanced breakfast. Overnight, people lose a lot of fluid, which they have to take again in the morning. That's why we recommend that you drink a glass of water as soon as you get up. For breakfast in general, you can choose it – hot drinks such as (unsweetened) tea or coffee are definitely good.
4. Colorful is better!
This also applies to your breakfast. Fruits and vegetables are a very important part of a balanced diet. When eating breakfast, you should also make sure that you include fresh fruits and vegetables in your daily routine. Colourful also makes you healthy.
For example, fruits and vegetables contain many important vitamins that keep you healthy and fit. How about a delicious smoothie bowl for breakfast, for example?

5. Hot food is good for you!
Traditional Chinese medicine prefers a hot breakfast: the body needs extra energy to warm up cold food. Only then can the body remove the nutrients contained in the food – but if you already eat something warm, the body can directly use these valuable substances.
Porridge, for example, is always a hot tip for a hot breakfast. It is not only delicious, but also very healthy! The oat meal gets our circulation going and provides us with many important substances such as protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, fiber and minerals. In addition, porridge ensures a strong immune system and regulates the blood sugar balance.
