Your child doesn't want breakfast? No desire, no hunger or something else is just more important than breakfast?
Of course we all know that a healthy breakfast for children provides a necessary foundation for the day, because we all need important nutrients and energy.
We adults should therefore set a good example and eat breakfast together with our children. The ideal children's breakfast should be healthy and nutritious, but also tasty for children. If it looks fun and tasty, that's another positive point.
But is it feasible? Is there such a thing as the perfect breakfast for children – one that is healthy, tastes good and is fun to eat? In the following article, we have put together some useful information and tips to help you start the day well as a family.
Breakfast for children – find out more!
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Does that also apply to children?
Yes, breakfast is especially important for children. Children have low reserves of glycogen, the storage form for glucose, in their liver and muscles in the morning. It is therefore particularly important that they replenish the energy stores that have been depleted over the night.
In the morning, whether at school or daycare, many challenges await your child. Sports, games, learning and all other important developmental factors. Without the necessary blood sugar levels, energy and vitamins, your child's activities and development are severely limited.
Children are still developing, moving around, learning, understanding and implementing a lot. So a healthy breakfast is essential for children to avoid the mid-morning slump. If you look at yourself, you will find yourself quickly shoving a sweet chocolate bar into your mouth to get a quick boost of energy. Occasionally this is fine. In the long term, however, it is unhealthy, whether you are young or old.
Allow enough time for little morning grouches
Are you smiling while reading this? Very good. Even among us adults, there are many morning grouches. Many would love to sleep late, get up just before work, brush their teeth, get dressed and off to work. But to avoid the rush, plan enough time to start your day in peace and enjoy breakfast together without rushing.
Incidentally, this also puts everyone around you in a good mood. Most adults can easily estimate for themselves when they need to get up in order to start the day without rushing. Children are still learning this, so it is all the more important to be a good role model for them.
For us at VERIVAL, the morning is the best part of the day and breakfast is much more than just a meal, but not everyone can share this and some children have a tendency to be grumpy in the morning from a very young age. Time management is an essential factor here!
A good, healthy breakfast and enough time to enjoy it is the basic building block for an energetic, calm start to the day.
Routine is important here. An additional 15 minutes can mean an adjustment at the beginning, but it has the potential to turn a hectic start into a leisurely and enjoyable meal.

Make breakfast varied for children
Children, like adults, eat with their eyes. We can still hear our parents saying, “It's healthy!” We secretly roll our eyes at that, right? That's why it's even more important to make breakfast not only healthy and tasty. It should also look inviting. There are no limits to the imagination when garnishing breakfast.
Fun faces made from vegetables, fruit and nuts (cashews, almonds, chia seeds ) or berries (cranberries, raspberries, strawberries, etc.) are more likely to tempt a child to the breakfast table than a plate that looks uninviting, aren't they? And let's be honest: you also love it when it's been prepared in an appetizing way. Depending on the age and maturity of the child, you are welcome to help them chop and garnish.
Creativity puts everyone in a good mood at the breakfast table.
Fun and a good mood also help to whet the appetite. To save time, you can do some of the prep work the night before. When children are allowed to actively participate in breakfast, they not only learn about healthy, varied nutrition, but it also promotes their creativity.
Children can prepare apples and bananas as decorations for porridge or beautifully garnish the muesli. This way, your child will be in a good mood, start the day creatively, and be strengthened with healthy vitamins and nutrients.

Children's cutlery invites you to breakfast
A healthy, colorful breakfast is the first step in the right direction. Now you can bring even more color into the morning. With children's cutlery, you can add to the eye-catcher in the morning. Children's cutlery is not only colorful, often designed with figures, whether as an application or the handle of the cutlery often attracts curiosity and joy at breakfast.
Be honest, you secretly like to use the princess spoon or the fork with the frog on it. We somehow remain children at heart, right? And when the perfect breakfast for you and the children is on the table, you will see that the morning is quieter and more pleasant.
VERIVAL breakfast provides variety and tastes good!
Where, for example, can you get a certified organic, low-sugar and yet such a varied breakfast for children? This was precisely the aim of the Tyrolean organic food manufacturer VERIVAL when developing its children's breakfast products. “All parents know that ‘healthy’ alone is not much use if the little ones refuse to eat it. We believe that the concerns of parents and the wishes of children must be taken equally seriously,” explains founder Wolfgang Fojtl.
That is why VERIVAL sought help from representatives of both ‘parties’ when creating the recipe: on the one hand, extensive scientific input from nutrition experts and, on the other hand, practical tastings by children aged 6-10. “This enabled us to ensure that the products contain only as little sugar as necessary, but still clearly meet the taste of children,” says Wolfgang Fojtl.
